The AI voucher is a grant from the IA360 Plan through which the Government aims to help thousands of SMEs and freelancers incorporate AI into their businesses. It was announced at the end of September 2026, there is no open call yet, and therefore, you cannot apply for it today. What is the IA360 Plan AI voucher?
It is a grant line within the IA360 Plan, the roadmap the Government presented at La Moncloa to expand AI in Spain. According to the official plan document, the voucher will have a budget of 600 million euros and aims to transform 25,000 companies, targeting SMEs and freelancers. The political goal is for more than half of Spanish companies to be using AI by 2030.
To understand the leap, look at the starting point. According to the INE, 21.1% of companies with 10 or more employees were using AI in the first quarter of 2025. For micro-enterprises, that percentage drops to 13.4%. There is a long way to go, and the voucher aims to shorten that path.
When will the AI voucher be available for application?
There is no application date yet. The official plan provides for design and regulatory preparation along with a controlled pilot in the first half of 2027, and a general call before the end of that year. The guidelines do not exist yet, so the details may change.
It is also advisable to be wary of anyone offering to "process your voucher" right now. Without regulatory guidelines or an open call, there is no process to carry out, and any upfront fee is, at the very least, premature.
What projects will the AI voucher fund?
It will fund AI services that transform your company's processes, not just simple subscriptions. According to the plan, providers will be European technology companies that contribute their own value, such as development, integration, sector-specific knowledge, data processing, or process redesign. Furthermore, it will require a prior maturity assessment, a concrete use case, and subsequent measurement of the impact on productivity.
Translated into real life, it looks like it will fit projects such as these:
- An assistant that answers customer queries using data from your own business.
- Automating invoicing, quotes, or order management.
- Analyzing sales and inventory to anticipate demand.
- AI-supported content and commercial support with human oversight.
Paying for a license for a tool like ChatGPT on its own, however, would not be enough.
What requirements will you have to meet?
The exact requirements have not been published. The plan anticipates payments based on milestones and conditions regarding AI training for employees and their integration into internal processes. Everything else, such as being up to date with tax and social security obligations, is a forecast based on other grants, not official data.

How can you prepare your company before the call?
The best preparation is to be clear about what problem you want to solve with AI and with what data. The grants reward those who arrive with a defined project, not those who improvise the week of the call. You have plenty of time to do your homework.
- Identify two or three repetitive tasks. Those that consume hours and add no value: answering the same questions, copying data, preparing reports.
- Organize your data. An AI is only as useful as the information you give it. Customers, products, sales, and documents must be easy to find.
- Review your digital foundation. A fast, well-structured website with analytics is the ground upon which everything else is built.
- Do the math. Calculate how much time or money those processes cost you today so you can measure the improvement.
- Follow official sources. The guidelines and deadlines will be published on public channels, not in a social media ad.
